2019 – INFINITI QX50

It was several anticipations that Infiniti showed during recent weeks, including recently released the first official image of the new generation of the QX50. Now the SUV is already a reality and will be present at the Hall of Los Angeles 2017 as one of the great novelties of the brand. The renovation undergone by the Japanese model was impressive, since it incorporates and debuts several interesting novelties in all aspects. We are facing the most technological, advanced and secure Infiniti QX50 ever created by the company. Aesthetically, the new Infiniti QX50 adopts the latest design language that has been followed by the Japanese brand and was advanced with the  Infiniti QX Sport Concept , presented last year during the Beijing Salon 2016. That concept car offered a preview of the new generation Infiniti SUV. Following the ‘Powerful Elegance’ philosophy, a completely revamped front comes with a new grille, stylized LED headlights and a hood with several lines of expression. The lower part, thanks to the voluminous forms, the design of the lights antineblina and the grid, transmits greater force. On the side, besides the relevant protections that use the whole lower part of the body, stands the height in relation to the ground and the new wheels. In the rear there are new LED flashlights that are joined by a chrome trim and a double chrome exhaust outlet.

The interior of the Infiniti QX50 features an environment that conveys quality and comfort. The designers used top quality materials and took gmc truck cover of all finishes. It used leather, wooden frames and aluminum. Another noteworthy feature is the 8.0-inch touchscreen for the InTouch infotainment system. It also debuts a second 7.0-inch touchscreen for the use of different systems such as climate control and Head-Up Display. The new generation of the QX50 also incorporates the latest driving assistance systems developed by Nissan, such as front-end collision warning, blind spot warning and pedestrian-enabled emergency braking. However, the new model goes a step further and will also equip ProPilot technology. A set of semi-autonomous driving systems from Nissan. In mechanical terms, the great news of the new Infiniti QX50 is that it will be the first model of the Premium brand to equip a 2.0 liter VC-T engine with 272 hp and 380 Nm of maximum torque. A variable gasoline and four-cylinder compression engine that promises numbers similar to those of a diesel engine, but with superior performance. For the transmission, Infiniti opted for an automatic Xtronic CVT. The new QX50 will be offered with front or full wheel drive. When the vehicle is equipped with all-wheel drive, it will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just over 6 seconds and reach a top speed of 230 km / h.

After several advances, the new Infiniti Prototype 10 Concept was finally introduced. The Japanese Premium brand continues with its guideline of launching conceptual models in which it indicates its vision of future and allows the public and followers to glimpse what is the direction that will follow the company in the next years. A future that goes through electrification and sustainable mobility. The new Infiniti Prototype 10 Concept debuts at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2018, the most important innovation being the brand that led to this important auto event, part of the Monterey Automobile Week in California. In the same scenario debuted last year the Infiniti Prototype 9 Concept. And shortly afterwards came the Infiniti Q Inspiration Concept. When talking about your new project, Infiniti refers to these two concept cars. He emphasizes that it is the perfect continuation in two proposals so different, but connected by the same passion that the brand applies to all its models. With the Infiniti Prototype 10 Concept they look to the future, but without losing sight of the company’s past. The road to date will mark the future of the Japanese manufacturer.

Although the Infiniti Prototype 10 as such is not put into production, it is necessary to note some of its features will advance the new design language that Infiniti will apply to its future models. The ripped and profiled headlights match perfectly with the carved and fluid body shapes of the Prototype 10 Concept. With this new project, the company remembers the traditional speedsters. According to Infiniti, this new design language is characterized by clear, concise and proportional lines, in accordance and perfectly adapted to the new electric power trains that will be used in their vehicles. The electrification will be one of the central pillars in the script set by Infiniti. In relation to the mechanical part there are not many details. Infiniti has simply said that because of the modular platform used by this concept car, the brand can equip it with its E-POWER technology and a 100% electric mechanics. In any case, this new conceptual model is a symbol of electrification. However, and considering that the mark is a simple design study, we should not expect it to offer more data about it. Infiniti Design Executive Officer Karim Habib commented on the new project he led: “Prototype 10 provides a link between where Infiniti is and where we are headed. For us, electrification means efficiency. Our vehicles will be powerful, efficient and highly rewarding to drive. ” From the year 2021 every new Infiniti that arrives to the market will have an electrified mechanics to be able to offer a high performance along with low consumptions and emissions.

After several advances, the new Infiniti Q Inspiration Concept was officially unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in 2018. This new concept from Infiniti is very relevant, as it advances some issues related to the future of the brand, especially with the design of its next models. The new Infiniti Q Inspiration Concept can be described perfectly as the ‘starting shot’ for the new design language that Infiniti will use in the coming years. But in addition to being an important visual proposition, the Q Inspiration Concept echoes some of the company’s most important pillars, such as Nissan’s variable compression engine and ProPilot technologies. Aesthetically, it is clear Infiniti’s intention to rewrite the forms of a classic sedan, adopting the own line of a four-door coupe. In its front part, the enormous and grating is flanked by headlights of very sharp drawing and two lines of expression appear in the hood.  It should be noted that the Infiniti emblem and the edge of the grid are backlit, which helps to convey some futuristic air. The huge air intakes, the shape of the wheel arches and the thin taillights joined by a fringe of light, are another of the most characteristic features of the Japanese concept car. It is also necessary to highlight the type of door opening, which facilitates access and exit from both the front and rear seats.

As for the passenger compartment, there is a technological environment that is far ahead of our time, not concealing that it is a conceptual model. Each passenger will have a touch screen and the vehicle’s infotainment system will be able to monitor the biometrics of each passenger. Another of the most relevant aspects of the interior is the quality of the materials used, showing that Infiniti took special care in this area. Infiniti equipped this vehicle with ProPilot technology, which allows you to enjoy up to a certain level of autonomous driving. Recalling that Nissan has already equipped some street vehicles with some driving assistance systems. However, the real challenge of ProPilot technology is to offer totally autonomous driving. As far as the mechanical part is concerned, under the skin of the Infiniti Q Inspiration Concept is a variable compression VC-T engine. This type of engine debuted for the first time in a production model with the launch of the new generation of the  Infiniti QX50 at the Los Angeles Motor Show in 2017. Although it uses gasoline and has four cylinders, it offers very low fuel consumption and emission levels. Recalling that during these last weeks, the possibility that this conceptual model was equipped with a totally electric mechanic, or at least a hybrid mechanic, was being considered. However, Infiniti intends to demonstrate that this type of combustion engine can be a viable alternative to electric mobility.

2018 – INFINITI Q50

Taking advantage of the celebration of the 87th edition of the Geneva Motor Show, Infiniti has presented, in a global way, the renewal of its best-selling model, the Infiniti Q50. The sedan of the Japanese brand has undergone a typical aesthetic renovation, although there are many more elements and details that are worth highlighting. As we said, the Infiniti Q50 gets a new look. In relation to its body, new details were integrated, such as the front and rear bumper. In both cases they were minimal touches but they improved the appearance of the sedan. All this without changing its proportions or its appearance. If the visual changes were few on the outside, they were actually smaller still on the inside. Infiniti bet on offering more quality, better materials and more technology. As well as the trend, connectivity is essential when it comes to selling cars, and so the Q50 will now have the INFINITI InTouch system. In addition, the Infiniti Q50 will be the brand’s first car to incorporate Nissan’s ProPILOT Assist technology, which allows you to group a large number of driver assistance devices and systems with the intention of increasing safety. Probably the greatest novelty of all is hidden under the hood. The Q50 can count from now on the V6 biturbo gasoline engine with 3.0 liters and 405 hp. This is the first of the new batch of engines that reach the Japanese brand. In fact, the Infiniti Q60 already has that engine. For the time being the brand did not specify the date of arrival to its dealers, nor the prices of sale to the public.

After a small advance, the new Infiniti Project Black S 2018 was finally presented. A project emanating from the need to take to the road the technology used in the world of competition. A turnaround in the concept car of the same name introduced by Infiniti about a year ago (here), now the premium Japanese brand benefits from the collaboration of Renault team in Formula 1. In the bowels of the new Infiniti Project Black S are numerous technologies used by F1 single seater. It is not the first time that a manufacturer tries to take to the street the advances and innovations that are fruit of the development on the vehicles of competition of Formula 1. In relation to the previous version of this conceptual model, aesthetically we found some adjustments, but the truly important if within.

The new Infiniti Project Black S is equipped with two power recovery systems to recharge your hybrid system. On the one hand, we have the MGU-K which recovers energy during braking. On the other hand, the MGU-Hque system emerges, which through an exhaust treatment technology is able to recover valuable energy for the system. Thanks to this latest system the Infiniti Project Black S can recharge the batteries even during acceleration. Underneath the hood is a VR30 V6 3.0-liter Twin-Turbo engine that develops a power of 571 hp. The conventional version of this engine produces 405 hp. The increase of power was made possible by the hybridization of the mechanics. The energy recovered by the two recovery systems is stored in a lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 4.4 kWh. Taking as a starting point the Infiniti Q60, a thorough and laborious work of aerodynamics was accomplished through the design of a body kit. The front has been modified largely by the installation of a new bumper, huge air intakes, a new splitter, as well as hood ventilations, which are fundamental for mechanical cooling. At the rear, the huge aerofoil makes clear the importance of aerodynamics in the design of this concept car. Nor can we ignore the radical diffuser where the two exhaust ports are perfectly integrated. The yellow details are crucial to know that we are facing the new reinterpretation of the Infiniti Project Black S. Also features beautiful alloy wheels that reveal the yellow brake calipers. During its presentation, Infiniti hinted at the possibility that Project Black S will influence the design of future sports versions of the Japanese brand. Of course, electrification will play a leading role in the Renault / Nissan / Mitsubishi Alliance Premium brand. Watch the video .
